Call-in radio opportunities
An excellent way to let people know what's happening. To quote someone who's already done it: "I've only done this a couple of other times, and I felt pretty nervous at first. But--astonishingly--the hosts are always nice, and they seem genuinely tickled to get calls. So now it feels more like a friendly little chat."

KUWS 91.3FM Tuesday and Thursday 6 pm to 7 pm, Ph. 394-8530, host Duke Skorich

WEBC 560AM, Ph. 720-4888 or 1-888 932-2560
Monday to Friday 8 am to 10 am, host Lew Latto,
Monday to Friday 5 pm to 6 pm, hosts including Brad Bennet and Neill Atkins

Here's some talking points:

  • Planning Commission meets Wed, Dec 15, 5:00, City Co. Chambers to hear from public and discuss whether an Environmental Impact Statement is needed for Spirit Mt. golf course project.
  • Planning Commissioners seem unprepared for this very important vote. One member said she didn't even know the vote was happening next week. Also, the City Planning office as of yesterday still hadn't sent the info commissioners the info they will need to make this decision. And you've got to be practically a scientist to understand this stuff! So they've got only few days now to digest it.
  • Much is at stake environmentally--old-growth forest, wetlands, plant species, runoff problems, etc. Yet this commission will likely be pressured into voting right after the comment session on the 15th. That, of course, implies that the public comment is a moot point.
  • WSSPA proposes a Willard M Munger memorial forest for the spot.
  • The commission should NOT rush into a vote on the 15th!
